Vivian's story

Vivian lives in Kampala, Uganda. She is cohabiting with no children. She is taking care of her mother, niece, and brother. She has been keeping poultry and pigs and has operated laundry services for two years at both wholesale and retail, working seven days a week. She also supplies chapats and roasted groundnuts to shops and school canteens for more income. She has applied for a loan of UGX 600,000 from MCDT-SACCO to enable her construct a poultry house. Her major business challenges include seasonality and high prices for feeds. She joined MCDT because of timely loans and low interest charged. She aspires to expand her business to 10,000 birds and at least 30 pigs. She stays in her own house with access to electricity and piped water. Her major monthly expense is school fees.
