A loan of $1,200 helped buy agricultural products to provide maintenance to her 21,000 square meters of corn.

Evila Del Carmen's story

Mrs. Evila is 58 years old and has four children. From a very young age she has worked very hard since her mother abandoned her and she had to take care of her siblings since she was the oldest and was forced to work for other people. Mrs. Evila got married at 19 and had four children; her life partner abandoned her because of the civil war that erupted in her country during the 1980s. With a lot of hard work and with her children she dedicated her time to cultivate some land to care and give her children what they need.

Mrs. Evila harvests 21,000 square meters of corn with the help from her children. To buy agricultural materials she has to travel nine kilometers to make her purchases, pays for transportation to carry the merchandize to her home and later on pays a carter to carry the items about a kilometer where her crops are.

The loan from Fundacion Campo is to buy agricultural products to provide maintenance to her 21,000 square meters of corn. Her goal is to put better fertilizers to increase her production, improve the quality of life of her family and have greater possibilities to get ahead in life.
