A loan of $1,000 helped to build a shed for her guinea pigs.

Rosa Edelina's story

Rosa is a member of the 'Corazones de Turi' community bank. She lives in Corazón de Jesús community, in Turi parish, in Cuenca. This parish is known for the beauty of its church and is also known because, from there, you can admire a large part of the city of Cuenca. The local people are kind, friendly, hard-working and tenacious. They work in commerce, livestock raising and farming.

Rosa is 40 years old, married and has three children from her marriage who are 21, 19 and 17 years old. Her eldest daughter is studying at university, her second daughter works in order to cover her personal expenses and her youngest daughter attends a high school in the city. Her husband works abroad. He took this hard decision in order to improve the financial situation of their household and family. The family own the house in which they live.

Rosa does her housework and, as she spends most of her time at home, she also farms. Her harvests are for her household's consumption and she sells any surplus. She also raises guinea pigs and livestock.

This is Rosa's fifth loan as a member of her community bank and she will invest it in building a bigger shed for her guinea pigs. Her goal is to make further progress in her animal-raising business.
