A loan of $1,300 helped to build a chicken shed.

Carmen Guadalupe's story

Carmen is a member of the 'Corazones de Turi' community bank. She lives in Corazón de Jesús community, in Turi parish, in Cuenca. This parish is known for the beauty of its church. It is also known for the fact that you can admire a large part of the city of Cuenca from there. The local people are kind, friendly, hard-working and tenacious. They work in commerce, livestock raising and farming.

Our member is 24 years old and lives with her common-law husband. She has two children who are 6 and 4 years old. Her eldest son attends a local elementary school. Her husband works in construction. They do not own their own home but live in rental accommodation.

Carmen does her housework and cares for her children who are still young. She also raises chickens. She has been in this business for three years.

Carmen has been a member of her community bank for one and a half years and she will invest her new loan in building a larger chicken shed so that she can continue growing in her business. Her goal is to finish building her house.
