A loan of $6,700 helped a member to buy perfumes, creams, cosmetics and clothing.

Mujeres Unidas De La Revancha (Manta) Group's story

The 'Mujeres Unidas de La Revancha' community bank meets every two weeks in La Revancha, on the outskirts of Manta canton. This area is known for its beautiful beaches, its great number of beautiful places and the variety of its cuisine.

This is a group of people who decided to come together some time ago and form this loan group which has been very useful to them in growing their businesses. The members work in a number of different business activities such as general commerce, food sales, services, etc.

This is where Rocio lives. Rocio is 36 years old, lives with her common-law husband and has two children who are 17 and 5 years old. Her children are studying in high school and elementary school. Her husband is a supervisor in a security company.

Our friend is a housewife who, in order to earn her own money so that she can help her husband with the household expenses, sells clothing and Avon products (beauty products, cosmetics, perfumes and ladies' accessories) through catalogs. She works three days a week, for two to three hours a day. She leaves her products with her customers on credit and collects payment once a week. She has been in this business for three years and it is doing very well. She tells us that what she sells most of are perfumes and cosmetics because they are very good.

Rocio will use this loan to buy perfumes, creams, cosmetics and catalog clothing because she has several orders. This is her second cycle as a member of the community bank and she likes it because of the help they receive from the loans.

Rocio's dreams are to make progress and provide her children with the best in life.

The small photo is of a member who could not be present when the group photo was taken.
