Nelly's story

Nelly, 41, is a happy woman, hard-working and enterprising. Her partner, Cayo, is the father of her two children, Erick and Brayan, 18- and 17-years old, respectively. The live in a house that they worked very hard to buy.

Nelly buys and sells lumber. She buys the lumber--some in strips, other in sheets--from a supplier and sells it piece by piece from a yard behind her house. She started the business more than a year ago with some money that she had. She only sold a few pieces of lumber at first, but her sales have steadily increased over the year. She says that she is pleased with her progress because she is making money. Nelly says that she and her partner struggled with money before because raising two boys is expensive. She started the business because she wanted to pay some of the family's expenses, but also because she wanted something that would keep her busy. Her success has encouraged her to consider other businesses and she wants to add rooms to her house that she can rent to boarders.

Nelly says that this is her 5th MFP loan. She has used past loans to grow her business. She likes her community bank and says its members are very supportive. She will use this 4000 new soles loan to buy wholesale supplies of lumber--strips, sheets, etc.--that she will resell.
