A loan of $2,400 helped a member to buy potato seeds, natural and foliar fertilizers, and to pay for the labor to help with the crops.

Amigos De Planes Group's story

María Santos, age 39, is married and has two children. She lives with them and her husband in a village in the Intibucá municipality.

She has always worked in agriculture. Together with her husband she has had her own crops for over 15 years. The place where they live is an agricultural zone, and it is suitable for their crops. She grows potatoes, corn, and seasonal beans. She sells this production at the local market.

María Santos has requested four previous loans, which she was able to use to provide her crops with good maintenance.

She is now requesting her fifth loan. She will use the loan to buy potato seeds and fertilizers, to pay workers who help them with the potato crop, and to be able to provide the crops with good care in order to get better harvests. Her goal is to increase the production in order to get better income for her family.

She belongs to the Amigos de Planes communal bank, which is comprised of six members. This is how to identify the people in the photo: Juan is to the left followed by Justino, then María Santiago followed by María Santos, after her is Francisco, and Nicomedes is to the right. They all devote themselves to agriculture in the area, and they live in the same community. The group loan is for the amount of 45,500 lempiras.

In this group: Maria Santos, Juan, Maria Santiago, Justino , Francisco, Nicomedes
