Julio Cesar's story

Julio, age 30, is in a common-law marriage and has two children. He lives in a rural village in the Morazán municipality in Yoro. Julio is a farmer, and he produces basic grains. He started his farm work 15 years ago. He makes use of a piece of land that he inherited from his parents. With great work, determination, and dedication he has managed to make the land productive. He currently produces corn and beans for consumption and for sale. He sells these products at the local market for a good price. He is motivated to continue with his productive business because he feels that it generates good income for him. He is requesting a loan for 12,000 lempiras to buy fertilizers and supplies to apply to his crops. This way he will manage to have better production, and he will generate improved income. In the future he plans to use his income to buy more land. He plans on the land being his children’s inheritance, and he plans to produce more.
