A loan of $950 helped to buy three cows to sell beef.

Freddy's story

Freddy, 19, is a kind, enterprising man who is determined to get ahead. He is single and has no children, and lives with three cousins in his aunt's home.

He sells beef which he buys at the municipal abbatoir from farmers, then sells at his stand in the market. He started the business four years ago, encouraged by his aunt who taught him everything he knows. At first he sold small quantities and then increased according to demand. He believes business is considerably profitable, based on his earnings, and he has been able to establish himself in the market where he is well-known. Before starting the business he had economic difficulties because he pays his own expenses and must pay for his university education.

This is his third loan through the MFP institution and he is grateful for the opportunity to continue his business. He also wants to be able to request more loans, and is committed to paying them back on time. He plans to use the 2,500 PEN loan to buy three heads of cattle, each worth 900 PEN.
