A loan of $350 helped to buy cosmetics, shoes and clothing.

Mayry's story

Mayry is 20 years old and lives in the town of Puerto Colombia, on the Caribbean coast, very close to the city of Barranquilla. There she has her own business where she sells a variety of merchandise through specialized product guides. She started this business one year ago as she needed to support her household. Up to that point her husband, who works as a builder, was the only one providing.

When Mayry got the opportunity to sell merchandise through catalogs to employees in different companies, she undertook the business venture and, with a lot of effort and discipline, she has managed to consolidate it. Her main customers are neighbors, friends, family members and people who she has been recommended to. She offers them a wide range of merchandise such as cosmetics, clothing, shoes, perfumes, etc. Mayry gives her customers 15 days to 1 month to pay.

Mayry is applying for a Kiva loan (her first loan with Fundación Mario Santo Domingo) to buy merchandise from her catalogs which are currently being offered with good discounts such as cosmetics, shoes and clothing. In this way, she hopes to impress her buyers with her prices and expand her customer coverage. Her loan will enable her to have a good amount of stock available and she will not have to wait to collect money on her outstanding accounts. This will enable her to respond to her customers and, as always, make them happy so that they become loyal customers. This will guarantee her investment is successful.
