John is 63 years old and lives in the town of Fort Portal in the Fort Portal region of Uganda. He is married and has five children with one of them currently in school. For the past fifteen years, John has been working hard to manage his retail shop, which sells sugar and soap.

To help expand his business, John has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more essential commodities like milk, bread, sugar, and soap for resale, and will help John to generate greater profits and add more profits to attract customers.

John hopes that in the future he will be able to own a big shop and get more profits.

John is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like John who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
