Janyl's story

Janyl is 48 years old. She is married and has four children. Her youngest son is four years old. Zhanyl works in the local registration office. To supplement her income, she has a livestock and small farming business started with 10,000 Kyrgyz soms (KGS) or approximately $212 USD. Thanks to her persistent efforts, Zhanyl now has a cow, calf, and heifer and one hectare of land growing beans and peppers. To further develop her business, Zhanyl applied to Bai Tushum and Partners for a loan of 100,000 KGS ($2125) to purchase two milking cows. Zhanyl plans to invest the profits from her loan into the further development of her business. In the future she hopes to be able to pay for her children to get a university education.
