A loan of $400 helped to buy a food cart and ingredients for food preparation.

Alejandrina's story

Alejandrina is 30-years-old and a very hard-working and entrepreneurial woman with a joyful and charismatic personality. Her partner is Marco Antonio, and together they have two children: Cristian who is 13 and Cristel who is seven.

Her business is selling fast food like fried potatoes and chicken, among other items. She does this from Monday to Friday at night, setting up in front of her brother’s house (a well-traveled spot) with her cart of fried potatoes, a table, and some chairs. She has been in this business for more than three years and started with her own money and has managed it by herself. She learned the secrets for good flavor from her mother and uses her profits to pay bills and household expenses. What she doesn’t like is the physical exhaustion, because she has to get up very early in the morning to prepare for the day, but this doesn’t discourage her and she will continue with her business.

This is her fourth loan with MFP and she feels thankful for the help she has received to continue with her business and she hopes to continue to have this opportunity in the future. Because of this, she commits to be punctual with her payments. In addition to feeling comfortable with her communal bank, she considers the other members to be people who are very committed to their obligations and to each other.

With the amount she is requesting of 1000 nuevos soles, she will invest in another fried potato cart (a mobile one for frying), which is valued at 600 nuevos soles and with the remaining money she will buy supplies and ingredients for her food preparation needs.
