Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $575 helped to pay the workers who work on his land.

Wilder's story

Wilder is 30-year-old and his partner is Roxana and he has three children with her: an eight-month-old baby and a five and three-year-old.

He has three blocks of land parcels under cultivation where he grows coffee and some bananas. He has good coffee plants that put out coffee berries from January until May thanks to his care for the plants. “I give them fertilizer, I prune them, I clean the leaves of spider webs and pests,” he tells us. He harvests bananas twice a month. He knows that with great effort he can acquire more land parcels and expand his production, this is why he takes great pains to care for his plantings every day. He is currently harvesting 30 to 35 sacks of coffee but he hopes to get to 50, this is one of his goals.

This is his fifth loan with MFP and he commits to making punctual monthly payments. He belongs to the communal bank “Shanzoshis,” a solid and organized group.

With this money he will pay the workers that he hires to clear his land. He will also buy supplies and food to prepare meals for his workers.
