A loan of $575 helped to buy fertilizer to pay the day workers that work on her plots.

Delfa's story

Delfa is 39 years old, and is married to Denis with whom she has 3 children, aged 16, 10 and 2. They all live together in their own home, which is located in their home community of Alto Incariado. She is a tenacious woman who has 5 plots of land, granted to her by the community, where she produces coffee, bananas and annatto. "I get 25 sacks of coffee beans from my plot without using fertilizers", she tells us. Consequently, this time she wishes to invest in buying fertilizers in order to increase her production. She sells these harvests in her community cooperatives, whereas the bananas and annattos she sells to buyers in the same wholesale market. With help from her husband and other contracted workers, she is able to tend to all of her crops and, as such, she reaps good rewards.
This is her fifth loan with MFP, which shows her to be a solid borrower who will fulfill her repayment schedule punctually. She belongs to the "Shantzoshis" Communal Bank, a strong and united group.
With this loan she will be able to buy bags of fertilizers, and she will pay her contracted workers for the support they provide in pruning and sowing the new coffee plants.
