A loan of $275 helped to buy pea seeds.

Milagro's story

Milagro, age 34, and her life partner, Alexander, have a 13 year old daughter. They live together in a house that they built themselves in the La Unión district, Leticia.

She is a farmer. She grows various vegetables like peas, carrots, and beans. She cultivates her own land, and she rents other land. Every day she takes charge of looking after her crops. That is why she leaves at dawn and heads for her land, which is a several minute walk for her.

She likes the farm work, and she knows how to do it well. She is an enterprising woman because she also has animals that she sells after fattening them. This is how she gets extra income to pay for their main expenses.

She is now planning to grow in greater quantity in the future. She will do this in order to increase production and get greater income. Also, she says that she is very satisfied with the work of her communal bank because the members are very organized.

She will use the loan to buy a bag of pea seeds, which costs between 550 to 600 soles for a 25 kilo bag.
