A loan of $525 helped to buy beans, rice, sugar, soft drinks, meat, and other items.

Josefina's story

Josefina is a 43-year-old single mother with a daughter. She resides in San Juan Pueblo, Cortes.

Doña Josefina has a grocery business that she established 14 years ago. She offers food products such as cornmeal, flour, bread, canned goods, candy, and lard. Josefina also has a shaving machine and manages a business of selling sandals. She says that the loans from ODEF have helped her to stock with products she does not have in order to satisfy the needs of her customers. Josefina begins her work very early in order to serve her customers and generate daily income to help cover a few household needs.

This is her ninth loan in the amount of 10,000 HNL, which will be invested in the purchase of more products such as beans, rice, sugar, soft drinks, meat, and other items so that she can restock her business. By increasing her inventory, her earnings will improve. Her goal is to have the necessary capital to help her daughter graduate from the university.
