A loan of $875 helped a member to buy one container of milk, one bag of sugar and one bag of couscous to make the traditional African dish “dèguè”.

Nafabe Group's story

Salamata is head of the NAFABE group. She is married and mother to two children, the oldest of whom is 14 and the youngest 9 years of age. Two of her children go to school, and she has four people under her care.

Salamata has worked selling “dèguè” (a traditional African porridge) for the past 18 years. She gets her supplies by the roundabout at the junction in her village, and her customers are friends and neighbors.

Salamata wants to buy one container of milk, one bag of sugar and one bag of couscous to make dèguè. She wants to use her profits to buy cereals, and she hopes to expand her business in the future.
