A loan of $1,125 helped to buy trees so as to cut wood to sell.

Melinda's story

Melinda, 35, and her partner Edberto have seven children. All of them live in her own home located in La Union, Leticia.

She is a woman of courage and strength. Her large family caused her to learn to make her living in various activities. In the early morning, she is responsible for preparing the delicious breads that she sells daily in her community. She then prepares food for her children since most of them are still in school. The activity that generates the most revenue is the sale of wood, for this reason she always invests in the purchase of trees wholesale. “I buy a lot of 100 trees and I buy them with the help of laborers which I pay per day.” she mentions. She has been in this business for about 5 years. During this time she has found buyers that take the goods in large quantities and bring the wood to other locations thus ensuring her sales. This activity is cost effective and manageable since she hires personnel that streamline the business. She also has additional income from the sale of small animals that she raises such as guinea pigs and rabbits.

This is her 10th loan with MFP and because of this she is very grateful for their confidence. She is a member of the communal bank “La Union hace la fuerza” and she feels good working with responsible people.

Melinda will use the money to buy 4 lots of trees to supply her business since she has orders to fill for this month.
