A loan of $1,325 helped buy fertilizers and pay the rent for her agricultural lands.

María's story

Maria is 34 years old and lives with her husband, Jesus, and their 3 children, whom they care for in their own house, located near Rundo.

Maria is a farmer but lacks farm land of her own. So, she rents fields, on an annual basis, where she sows potatoes, corn, green peas, and other crops according to season. Her husband helps her with the hard work the country labor requires. Maria also cares for her 10 cows, who produce 30 to 35 liters of milk daily for a milk enterprise. Since she likes animals, she also raises pigs and sheep, fattening them and, eventually, only when there is the need, she sells them to the ranchers of the zone.

Maria belongs to the “[Rumbo] al Progreso” [Direction of Progress] communal bank. This is her 8th loan with MFP, and she is grateful for the financial help received during all this time. Maria promises to be punctual in making her payments. She is also happy to belong to her group because the people are responsible and supportive.

Maria will invest this money in purchasing natural fertilizers to spread among her corn and potato plants, and she will pay the rent on her agricultural lands.
