A loan of $575 helped to travel to the capital to buy more clothing.

Marcelina's story

Marcelina, 50, and her husband Cornelio, 46, had three children, now grown and on their own. What she most wants now is to have a peaceful old age.

When she was very young she began to earn a living working in various ways, but for five years she has sold clothing in a stall in the market of her town. What she likes most about her job is advising her customers about the garments that look best on them, because this way she amuses herself and cultivates the loyalty of her buyers. Marcelina uses the MFP loans to buy merchandise and increase her stock.

With this loan of 1,500 nuevos soles [PEN], she will travel to Lima (the capital) to acquire more clothing, preferably light because she lives in the very hot jungle area.
