A loan of $875 helped a member to buy more bread and sarongs to sell.

Ziada's Hatuyumbi Group's story

Ziada A. is 31 years old and is married. Ziada started her business of selling sarongs and bread in 2007. Every day, she works from 7am to 6pm at her business and can earn a monthly profit of about $40 from her sales. Ziada has taken and repaid one successful loan from BRAC Tanzania to expand her business. She now hopes for another loan to buy more sarongs and bread to sell. She will share this loan with her subgroup members, who also have small businesses. This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutuA. guarantee one another's loans.
