A loan of $525 helped a member to buy more charcoal to sell.

Asha's Jitihad Group's story

Asha is 32 years old and is married. Asha started her small charcoal business in 2007. Every day, she works from 6am to 6pm selling charcoal and can earn a monthly profit of about $25 from her sales.

In the past, Asha has taken out 1 successful loan from BRAC Tanzania to expand her business. She now hopes for a loan to buy more charcoal for her business. She will share this loan with her subgroup members Zainabu, Mkasi, and Maulid, who also have small businesses.

This is a group loan. The loan funds will be distributed among the group members, each of whom will invest in her own business. The members mutually guarantee one another's loans. If one member does not repay, the other members are responsible.
