A loan of $1,125 helped to buy fertilizers for his crops.

Antonio's story

Antonio, 41, is a hard-working man who lives in his own house with his wife, Celedonia, 38, and their two minor children, Jaime and Yorela, for whom he wants to provide a better quality of life.

Since he was very young he has been growing cocoa and coffee for a living. His crops are well taken care of since he knows the family income depends on this business. He takes the crops to the city to sell to the cocoa and coffee collection associations, located about 30 minutes from his community. What he enjoys most about his work is farming the land and taking enough care to obtain a good harvest. For 30 years he has been working in this trade (he began as a child with his parents), and he feels he always has to avoid plant disease to protect his crops. His greatest goal is to build a house out of solid materials (brick and cement) and to have his own store.

He knows the loan will help him get ahead in his work so he can meet his goal. Also, he is very happy working with his communal bank since all the members are supportive.

This loan will be used to buy fertilizers to keep his land in good condition.
