A loan of $575 helped to buy tires and pay for regular maintenance of his vehicle.

Marcelino's story

Marcelino, 50, lives in the city of Camaná with his wife and three children. He is hardworking and enthusiastic, putting all of his efforts towards making progress for his family. Unfortunately, for lack of financial resources and the need to work to cover his needs, he wasn't able to go to college, but he would have liked to study mechanical engineering. In his free time he likes to take trips around the city with his family, and sometimes they will stop to eat saltado de carne, their favorite meal. Thanks to the support of his family and his desire to get ahead, Marcelino works as a mini-bus driver, working about 12 hours a day in local transport. He tends to an average of 80 customers during that time. He likes his work because his customers recommend him for the friendly and respectful manner in which he treats them. Marcelino is very grateful to the Kiva lenders because thanks to their help he will be able to buy tires and perform maintenance on his vehicle. That way he will keep it in good condition so that he can give his customers better service and increase his income, thereby improving his family's quality of life.
