Pon's story

Pon T. is 40 years old and has been working since 1990 as a collector of recyclable items. She makes her living by reselling these bottles, cans, and other such recyclables bringing in roughly US $1 per day. Her husband shares in this family business making US $1 per day as well. They have four children, one of whom works as a local tailor making about US $189 per month. She wants to use her loan to buy a greater quantity of recyclable items. Her hope is to be able to someday soon afford a motorbike on which to transport her purchased goods and make her business more efficient.
