A loan of $1,050 helped to cover the cost of buying fertilizer and irrigating her crops.

Ana Luz's story

Ana is a 37-year-old woman who lives in the city of Ica, in Santiago district, together with her husband and four children who are 2, 8, 11 and 18 years old. Ana has always been a very hard-working, keen, entrepreneurial woman who, together with her husband, is committed to providing for her family. Sadly, as her family lacked financial resources, she was not able to study for a degree. She would have liked to have studied for a secretarial qualification. In her free time, Ana enjoys relaxing, listening to a little music and, sometimes, she cooks a delicious dish called 'carapulcra con sopa seca' to spoil her family.

With a lot of determination and thanks to the support of her family, Ana works selling groceries. In addition, she also farms. She has a small plot of land where she grows cotton. Ana sells groceries in the mornings and, with the help of her husband and children, they are able to take it in shifts to carry out the farming work.

Ana is very grateful to Kiva lenders because, thanks to their help, she will be able to cover the cost of buying fertilizers and irrigating her crops. This means that when she harvests her crops, she will be able to make good profits on her sales. In this way, Ana will gradually be able to fulfill her dream of guaranteeing her children's well-being and future so that they become good professionals and upstanding citizens.
