Bladimir Alfonso's story

Bladimir, 34, sells Internet, copying and video-game services in a store that he rents on a main street in the Santa Maria neighborhood of Barranquilla. He is applying to Kiva for a loan that he will use to buy two televisions, two video-game consoles, chairs, LED displays and video cameras so that he can provide his customers with new and better services. Bladimir completed a degree in Systems Technology in 1997. He was working in construction, installing aluminum windows, to support himself and pay his university fees. He then worked for various private companies as a support technician before deciding to start his own business. He started the business 4 years ago, selling Internet services. He made good progress and slowly added the other services and products that he now sells. His tells us that the business is profitable, that his costs are low and that he only deals in cash. He is investing in "activos fijos" (not sure in this context) in order to firm up his business structure and stay at the forefront of technology. Bladimir lives with his partner, who is studying for a degree in Public Accounting. The couple has no children. Bladimir is an enterprising man who wants to get ahead. He is currently completing a course in information networks. For the future, he wants to marry his partner and have children.
