A loan of $1,150 helped to buy perfumes, creams and makeup.

Genesis Michelle's story

Génesis is 23 years old and the single mother of a 2-year-old child. She lives in Duran with her parents, in a family home which is made from cement and has all basic services. Génesis' business is selling cosmetics through a catalog. This entrepreneurial young woman tells us that she started her business with the support of a friend who helped her with the registration. She then set out to learn how to manage her business because, back then, she wanted to earn money for when she gave birth. Now she knows her business and is doing well in it.

Génesis tells us that the way to make real profits, for her, is not to sell products directly but rather to have a sales network. A network is when there is one main person who manages the orders, deliveries and payment. They earn money for every member they have in their network. Génesis currently has 30 people in her network which makes her a lot of profits. It also has the advantage that she has very little contact with the end customer which reduces her risk of having to deal with people who don't pay. Génesis tells us that she doesn't work fixed hours as she is available whenever people make orders so that she doesn't let her saleswomen down. She also sells perfumes, creams and makeup to family members and acquaintances to order. She will use her loan to buy products to have in stock. She will have capital available so that she can make her payments in a timely fashion. Her next dream is to become a sales leader with a larger number of members in her group.
