Tam-Tamneh Group's story

Salone Microfinance Trust (SMT), a partner of Kiva.org in Makeni, northern Sierra Leone is very pleased to present to you members of the “Tam-Tamneh” group. These are small scale entrepreneurs who have come to SMT/Kiva lenders to seek a loan of 500,000 Sierra Leonean Leones (SLL) each in order to invest in their respective businesses.

Sento is the leader of this group. She is thirty-nine years old and is married to a trader. The couple has five children who are attending secondary schools. Sento sells market food – rice, palm oil (the most popular cooking oil), margi (used to give sauce a sweet taste), beans, etc. She has been doing this business for many years now. With the help of this loan, Sento will invest in her business by buying the above-mentioned items in bulk to add to her current stock.
