Irene is a resident of Likoni, Kenya. She is a married mother of one school-going child. She had previously worked as a house girl, and had started saving about $23 a month. After two years, she was able to open her retail shop. The shop has been in operation for four years and has been a source of constant income to the family.
She learnt of Milango from her friends and joined in order to access credit for her business. Irene is asking for a loan of 31,500 Kenya shillings to purchase retail stock like soft drinks, fat, and tea leaves.
Despite the challenge of some clients not paying on time, Irene is optimistic that the sales will increase and she will finally open another retail shop. Her desire is to grow her future chain of businesses into wholesale. The additional income obtained from this loan will help her pay for her child’s school fees.
