Porn is 38 years old. He lives with his wife and their child in the Baray district of Kompong Tom province. He operates a motorcycle transportation business around the province, earning around USD 3.00 per day to pay for his daily expenses. During the rainy season Porn, like other villagers, plants and harvest rice and potatoes to provide for his family’s daily sustenance as well as to sell for profit. Besides these two businesses, the main source of the family’s income comes from a hog-raising business that is managed by his wife. Also, with the remaining funds he will buy a few piglets for his wife’s business. He is very happy to obtain this loan so that he can further improve his businesses and his living standard.
