A loan of $1,125 helped buy fertilizers.

Segundo Uldarico's story

Segundo is 61 years old and lives with his wife at his side. She is his right hand and his biggest support in everything he does. She helps with the household expenses since she is a teacher at an elementary school in the city. Their home is located in the pretty city of Ocoña. Ocoña is a city with a lot of agricultural development, especially of rice, beans, and corn, among other crops. Also, there is a lot of fishing. In his free time he likes to walk along the beach and have fun. He also likes to eat his favorite dish, the delicious Estofado. Because of limited financial resources, he was only able to study up to the 5th grade, but he would have liked very much to get a university degree.

Day after day Segundo works with effort and enthusiasm as a farmer. He has a small plot where he has planted beans. He dedicates 10 hours a day to his business since his plot is far away from home and he must be watchful of the crops. He believes he is successful in his business because he is responsible and careful and mostly, because he enjoys what he does.

Segundo is very grateful and happy with the help Kiva has offered, because thanks to it, he has been able to buy fertilizers and avoid pests. In this way, he has been able to improve growth and have a better harvest. This allows him to keep working toward making his biggest dream a reality: to make home improvements.
