A loan of $1,125 helped buy fertilizer.

Eusebio Leopoldo's story

Eusebio is 52 years old and lives with his wife by his side. She is his right hand and his biggest support in everything he does. She helps with household expenses since she has a small business selling groceries from home. Their house is located in Camana, a city characterized by beautiful beaches, a warm and welcoming climate, and agricultural development, especially of rice and beans, among other crops. The city is also well known for one of its typical dishes, a delicious shrimp chowder, which is Eusebio’s favorite food. In his free time, Eusebio likes to take walks with his wife to distract himself from his hard work. Because of his limited economic resources, he was only able to study up to grade five but he would have liked very much to have a university degree.

Day after day Eusebio works with effort and enthusiasm as a farmer. He has a small plot where he has planted lima beans. He spends 10 hours a day working because his plot is far from home and he must always watch the growth of his crop. He thinks he is doing well in his business because he is responsible and careful, and above all, because he likes his work.

Eusebio is very grateful and happy with the help Kiva has given him because thanks to it, he is able to buy fertilizer for his crops and in this way get better growth and a bigger harvest. This allows him to keep working to make his biggest dream come true; to buy a motorcar to transport his harvest.
