A loan of $625 helped to buy supplies for sowing two lots of irrigated rice.

Jeanneth Del Socorro's story

Jeanneth, a humble countrywoman, is from the community of San Lorenzo on the outskirts of Teustepe. She is the mother of 6 children and her husband is a farmer. She took the initiative to sow irrigated rice, and her children have supported her from the beginning. At first, she was afraid that she would be denied a loan because she is a woman; but despite this, everything went well, thanks to God. MiCredito has supported her from the start and decided to provide her with a Kiva loan. She sells her rice in the same area where she lives, and some buyers travel from other regions in search of her product. She does not leave the area to sell, because this would be expensive; her plots of land are small. However, she would like for her production to increase in time so that she could sell outside of her community. Her business has been very profitable, and she has other sources of income which she gets from tending to the water pump that supplies her community.
She needs a loan to buy products for planting two lots of irrigated rice. Jeanneth works very hard to provide her children with an education and to prepare them to be someone in life. This is her goal. At the moment she wants to get ready to bring in a good harvest and sell it all, repay her loan, and keep moving forward and working every day.
