A loan of $200 helped to purchase fabrics and other materials for her craft work.

Eleodora's story

Eleodora is an artisan who specializes in the traditional Andean patchwork art of arpillería, shaping diminutive fabric figures in three dimensions, embroidering them by hand, and creating elaborate scenes with them. She would like to invest in fabrics and materials for her craft work. Eleodora has been selling through NOVICA since 2006. This is her story: "Art is within us all, we just need to express it. I've been making arpilleria applique designs since I was in school, and this helped me finish high school. My husband learned how to embroider and now he is my best assistant! I love my country and want to show the rest of the world the beauty of our landscapes and our customs. Every colorful thread I use transmits the reality of my community and my people." "Thank you for your confidence in me. Thank you for supporting women artisans like me who want to get ahead on our own, even though we sometimes have to ask for help. Everyone needs assistance at some time in our lives, and I'm grateful for your support." View Eleodora's arpilleria on the Novica website.
