A loan of $500 helped to buy corn and firewood.

Maria Clementina's story

María works selling firewood and tamales. She lives only with three grandchildren, aged 16, 12, and 7, who are dependent on her. María has been a merchant; she learned the business 14 years ago. She operates her business from seven in the morning until six in the evening, Monday through Sunday.

Currently, she is requesting a loan because she needs to buy more firewood on a wholesale basis, since she sells more in the [Southern Hemisphere] winter season. She will also keep producing tamales, and for these she will buy an abundant quantity of corn. This loan will allow Maria to expand her business, in the expectation of obtaining better sales.

Her aspirations are to work hard for her family, improve their living conditions and also to improve the infrastructure in her home.
