A loan of $650 helped to purchase materials for carpet manufacturing.

Bubaim's story

Bubaim is a leader of the Yntymak 22 Group. She is 56 years old and is a school teacher. Seeking an additional source of income for her family back in 2000, Bubaim set up her business of producing national handmade felt carpets (shyrdak) with 5,000 som (KGS). Having created their own group and set up the production by means of joint efforts in material purchasing and work from home, the Group's monthly income from the sale of their products amounts to 20,000 som (KGS).
In order to further develop her business, Bubaim turned to the organization Bai Tushum & Partners for a loan of 30,000 som (KGS) to purchase necessary carpet fibers and materials. Bubaim and the Group are planning on investing the earnings from the loan into further business expansion and purchase a sewing machine to make Kyrgyz national hats kalpak.
