Utulivi Group's story

Abdala is in his late 30s, married and the father of two children, one of whom attends school. For the last 12 years, he has earned a living by running a tailor shop. He works from 8:00 a m to 8:30 p.m. daily and makes a fair monthly profit. He is requesting his fifth loan from Tujijenge Tanzania. He used his previous loans to buy supplies for his business and pay his household expenses. He has successfully repaid all of his loans and is applying for a new loan to buy sewing equipment to make more dresses to sell to his customers. His dream is to one day be able to build his own house. He will share this loan with his group, "Utulivi," which has 15 members, all of whom hold each other accountable for paying back the loan.
