A loan of $1,000 helped a member to buy fertilizer for her farmland and gasoline for a water pump.

Chroeb's Group's story

Chroeb, 47, is a married mother of two children, one daughter and one son. She earns a living in a rural village of the Kang Meas district through farming and selling rice. The main challenge for her family’s business is the unhealthy rice crop and insects. This is the second loan for Chroeb’s group with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund and they successfully paid back the loans which have enabled her to set aside some savings for future needs. With her current business, she earns around 21,000 KHR per day to spend for daily expenses. She is leading her group to apply for a loan of 1,000,000 KHR each. As the leader, she is going to use her portion to fertilizer for her farmland and to buy gasoline for a water pump to bring water to her rice farm. She hopes to make more productive rice crops and increase her lifestyle.
