A loan of $4,500 helped a member to improve her salon.

Vian's Group's story

Vian is a successful Iraqi woman with a beauty salon, a business she has been running for the past three years. She is 38 years old, married and a mother of three children.

Vian is busy in her salon providing Iraqi women with beauty, hair and make up treatments. She would like to make sure her customers enjoy the time they spend in her salon. She would like to ensure they not only enjoy the end result but also have a pleasant time.

In order to improve her salon, she took a loan from Relief International - Microfinance Iraq.

Relief International - Microfinance Iraq offers "Group loans" for clients unable to provide a guarantor - thereby unable to apply for a loan as an individual. As a group, the members collectively guarantee the loan. Groups consist of three to five clients and each client is evaluated on his or her repayment capacity. All group members receive the same loan amount as the individual with the lowest repayment capacity in the group.
