Zakhid's story

Zakhid, 50 years old, lives in a small village with his wife Minara, brother, sister-in-law, son and three nephews, the latter of whom study in the village school. The family earns its living through an agricultural business consisting of 400 sheep, 250 lambs, 4 milking cows and 22 calves.

The family works hard throughout each day and takes good care of their livestock. They produce cheese, curds, and yogurt, selling them on the local open market. They also sell lambs in spring. Total average monthly income of the family is 2000 Lari.

Zakhid is requesting a loan to rent mowing land, a measure that will decrease his dairy farm costs as he will make hay from the mowed grass for his livestock, thereby avoiding expensive purchases for feed. The loan will result in an increased family income which will be used to expand his enterprise, ultimately leading to better family living conditions.
