A loan of $1,000 helped to buy pigs, chickens and sheep.

María Juana's story

María is a member of the Nueva Amistad cooperative bank, and lives in the surroundings of the Cumbe en Cuenca parish. The climate there is cold, the terrain is very hilly, and it provides beautiful landscapes to enjoy nature. Its people dedicate themselves to raising animals and farming, and still retain the culture and tradition of their towns.

María is 74 years old and a widow; in her marriage, she had one daughter who is single and lives independently. She owns the house that she lives in.

María spends the majority of her time at home, given that she dedicates herself to raising pigs, chickens, sheep and livestock that she sells only when she has a financial need. She also works at farming, and her products are for both using at home and to offer for sale.

She has been a member of the cooperative bank for 5 years, and she is going to invest her loan into the purchase of pigs, chickens and sheep. Her goal is to have more animals.
