Mujeres Con Decisión (Cuenca) Group's story

The communal bank "Mujeres con Decisión" is formed by 14 members who work in different business activities. These activities allow them to pay their bills and contribute to the home economies. They are known to be kind, friendly women who fight day in day out, and follow the culture and traditions of their villages. They live in different places in the city of Cuenca. This city has a cold climate and has been part of the World Cultural Heritage since 1999. It has great natural and cultural wealth, its cuisine if very varied and captivates the palate of natives and visitors alike.

One of the members of the group is Norma. She lives in the Mutualista Azuay sector in the city of Cuenca. She is 36 years old, married and from this relationship has two children, aged 17 and 9. Her oldest child is studying at college and her youngest studies in a school in the city. Her husband works as a public employee. The house where they live is their own property.

Norma has made a living for the last two years selling cosmetics and various beauty products. She sells to her friends from university, as she is studying nutrition and diet and is in her last year of this university degree.

She has been a member of the communal bank for a year and will invest her loan in buying cosmetics to increase her stock.

Her goal is to graduate and be a good professional.
