Maria Avelina

Ecuador
Pacto, Ecuador / Poultry

A loan of $1,075 helped to make a little shed for the chickens that she raises.

Maria Avelina's story

Maria is a woman of 55 who lives with her husband and son in the Pacto parish in the canton of Quito, where the capital of Ecuador is located. This rural parish is located two hours from Quito, going closer to the coastal region of the country. The flora and fauna are the principal features in this region. The majority of the residents work in agricultural or livestock-related activities.

Maria has been raising chickens to sell for five years. She learned this business from her family, and now it serves to sustain her own household. This entrepreneurial woman wants to construct a shed for raising her chickens, and in this way they will be able to have a space where they are free from theft and from eating any food that they find on the ground. This will also facilitate the cleaning and hygiene of the site. To achieve this she needs a loan, which will help her improve her lifestyle.
