Clarinda's story

Clarinda is 58 years old. She is a single mother and lives with her son and granddaughter in the municipality of Choloma in Cortes.

Clarinda has a business selling food. She established this business 25 years ago, and it has been her source of income for survival, as she gets no support from the father of her children. She sells a variety of food such as fried chicken with fried plantains; ground chicken with fried plantains; pastries stuffed with meat, rice and potato; chicken tacos; pupusas (made of corn and filled with cheese or pork crackling) and sodas. In this way she earns her living, working every day tending to her customers' needs.

Doña Clarinda has requested her third loan through ODEF for 15,000 lempiras, in order to stock up on necessary supplies for making the food she sells. For example, meat, vegetables, bananas, spices, sodas, etc. In order to increase her income, she needs to offer a variety of food for sale to her customers, and this is why she decided to make this investment.

Her goal is to move ahead of life with her business, always keeping it active, so as to have a better life which will meet her household's needs.
