A loan of $1,475 helped to buy toolboxes.

Rosario Del Carmen's story

In Manta, a marvelous and beautiful tourist city on the coast of Ecuador, we met Rosario. She is 58 years old and married to Francisco. Her husband has been a welder for 12 years. He makes doors, windows and metal objects. She has a daughter who is grown and married. Rosario has a hardware store located in her house. She opened the business because she has always liked doing business, but since she was a housewife she wasn't able to develop herself that way.Talking to her husband one day she got the idea and with some capital they had saved up they started. At first it was difficult to find customers but over time they became better known. The hardware store has been running for 4 years and it is going very well for them. Rosario tends to it and when her daughter visits she helps her with the cleaning and serving customers. The locale is open every day from morning to night and has had no problems so far. Rosario wants to take out the loan to buy some complete toolboxes. Her dream is to add on to her house and her business to make it bigger and more spacious.
