A loan of $575 helped to purchase beauty products, cosmetics in general and supplies for providing her beauty services.

Esperanza's story

28-year-old Esperanza lives with her 5-year-old son in the town of Soledad, very close to the city of Barranquilla. There she offers personal appearance improving services, which she provides on a door-to-door basis in this community. At the same time, she advises her customers on this subject and sells them beauty products according to the characteristics of the treatment. Her main products are cosmetics, shampoos, hair treatments and nail polish. She also offers merchandise from specialized product directories, because she's affiliated with a company that focuses its products on cosmetology and physical beauty. Her goal is to expand her business and to become the top distributor of cosmetics and beauty products, so that in the future she can ensure a successful education for her son. Her son is the main driving force in her life and the reason why she works very hard. She currently requests a Kiva loan, her first loan with Fundación Mario Santo Domingo, which she will use to purchase beauty products, cosmetics in general and supplies for providing her beauty services. Her investment will be successful, because it's done in connection to the orders from her profitable customers. Also, with money on hand, she will be able to purchase merchandise on discount and in bulk, and this will result in higher profits than usual and in very competitive prices which benefit her customers, the raison d'être for her business.
