A loan of $200 helped to carry out improvements to the pen where he raises and feeds his animals.

Jesus Ruben's story

Jesús is 32, and lives with his partner and small son in the city of Chincha. He is a very hard-working man who has a great desire to improve himself. He is focused on helping his family move forward. Even in his free moments he looks for small jobs to earn some money, and on some occasions he likes to pamper his family by preparing a very delicious “carapulcra chinchana” (spicy dish made from dried potatoes and pork).

He did his best in order to complete his secondary education, but unfortunately due to lack of financial resources he was not able to pursue a university degree.

Thanks to his desire to succeed and with his family's help, Jesús works as a master baker in a bakery in his city. He works every night, approximately 13 hours daily and the rest of the time, with his partner's help, he raises and sells animals such as pigs and ducks.

Jesús is very grateful to the Kiva lenders, as thanks to the help he has been provided he will be able to carry out improvements to the pen where he raises and feeds his animals. This way he will be able to have a better equipped environment so that his animals grow up healthy and reach proper weight to be sold.

With this, Jesús hopes he can increase his income in order to save little by little. In the not-too-distant future he wishes to be able to have his own house.
