A loan of $1,125 helped to establish cochineal bugs throughout his prickly pear cactus crop.

Valentin Felix's story

Valentín is a 28 year old man. He is single and lives in the city of Nazca, which is well-known for the famous geoglyphs of the Nazca Lines. In his free time, he enjoys listening to a little music to relax, and sometimes he prepares one of his favorite dishes such as the delicious “Puré con Bistek”.

Valentín has always been a very enterprising man, who has been working ever since he was very young. He completed high school, but unfortunately hasn't been able to attend university due to lack of resources. However, he dreams of being able to study for an Agricultural Science degree.

Thanks to his enthusiasm and the support of his father, who gave him part of his farmland for him to work, Valentín has been able to get his business farming prickly pear cacti underway. He works approximately 10 hours a day. He is very happy with his business has he has always enjoyed the fields and the work he does there.

Valentín is very grateful to the Kiva lenders, as thanks to the help provided he will be able to establish cochineal bugs throughout his prickly pear cactus crop. In this way he will be able to take advantage of the season and have an abundant breeding of cochineal bugs, so that when his harvest of his crops is complete, he will be able to obtain good earnings from the sales he has made. Favoring this approach is how Valentín will little by little be able to accomplish his main dream of being able to study for a degree in Agricultural Science and obtain his own home.
